I am working on a series of intimate streetscapes of Sydney. The shopfronts we walk past not thinking too much, but when we look up closely, we notice the beautiful heritage buildings that house them and enjoy their rich history.

This painting is of an iconic Italian institution in Norton Street Leichhardt in Sydney, flanked by another local favourite. I enjoyed working out the finer details in this piece whilst also keeping some areas looser.

The painting is done in watercolour on a quarter sheet of Arches Aquarelle 300g Cold pressed paper, the best watercolour paper in my humble opinion. I love how the surface of this paper generously takes the pigment and allows for an extended playtime without drying out differentially or leaving undesirable " cauliflower" marks.
