The shapely hills of the Manning Valley as it runs west towards the Great Dividing Range are magnificent. I have always been inspired by how the local artist Yvette Hugill masterfully depicts these majestic undulations and folds in the landscape, and wanted to have a go myself.

I took a more pared back approach in this piece, simplifying the often messy and detailed scene from the Killabakh Hall grounds to flat planes of colour and marks showing direction. I enjoyed working primary colours straight from the tube - something I might try again.
