Parramatta Square 1
Parramatta Square 1
Linocut on Stonehenge paper. 38.5×31cm. Framed
In the Sydney Morning Herald on 26 April 2025, there was a very interesting article about Parramatta - the rapid redevelopment of the Parramatta CBD, especially the Parramatta Square precinct. I didn't know the background to this, but apparently the land around the train station was bought up a while back by Lang Walker and there was a lot of lobbying to rezone and redevelop the area into what it is shaping up to now, a hub of government agency offices and new hospitality venues. My series of small linocuts celebrates this space in its era of identity transition.
Small disclosure, I happen to work in Parramatta Square, and happen to enjoy a bird's eye view of its vistas. So, during some less inspiring Teams seminars, when I can have my headphones on but don't need to focus on the screen, my artist eye wanders.
This piece was Very Highly Commended by artist judge Ken Knight at the Drummoyne Art Society Open Art Awards Exhibition in April 2025.
